The Bill Memorial Library in the City of Groton is now taking registration for our spring StoryTime program for children ages 3-5. StoryTime is held on Thursdays (new day) at 10:30 a.m. beginning April 2 and continuing through May 21, 2015. StoryTime at the Bill Memorial Library is held in our Children’s Room and features classic stories as well as new favorites, song time with live music, finger plays, and simple crafts. Library hours are Monday and Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Eastern Connecticut Ballet will stage two matinee performances of “The Magic Toy Shoppe,” a playful, vibrant ballet that will delight all ages. The ballet’s story unfolds in a small shop where, each night after closing time, toys from around the world come to life. Children are invited on stage to take photos with dancers after the performance. Donate a toy for the toy drive, coordinated by Lymes’ Youth Service Bureau to benefit area children’s hospitals and shelters, and earn a chance to win an American Girl Doll or a prize from our sponsor, The Bowerbird. Advance show tickets are sold at Eastern CT Ballet (435 Boston Post Rd., East Lyme) and The Bowerbird (46 Halls Rd., Old Lyme) and are $12 for children; $18 for adults. At the door, tickets are $14 for children and $20 for adults. Children age 3 and under are free of charge (must sit on parent’s lap). Children are invited to the Bill Memorial Library in the City of Groton on Saturday, May 9 between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to decorate a clay pot and fill it with a beautiful plant to take home. Learn to master interview skills and network and market yourself at the Groton Public Library starting Monday.
At 7 p.m., Ashon and Dannika Avent, will start a hold a workshop on “Self-Marketing and Networking.” The series will continue May 21 with “Informational Interviews and Interviews” and will conclude on June 4 with a session on “How to Use LinkedIn.” Workshops will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The Avents are owners of The Main Avent Group LLC. The workshops are free and open to all.
