All families are invited to enjoy our celebration, Saturday April 30, from 10 am to 2 pm. With a suggested donation of $10, families can help meet an urgent need for increased access to quality early childhood education.

Registration begins at the welcome tables at 10 am at the entrance to Quinnipiac River Park at the corner of Front St. and Exchange St.

The event starts with families walking with Mayor Toni Harp along the 1.5 loop around the Quinnipiac River—over two bridges and through the historic riverfront district of Fair Haven.

After the stroll, the festival activities begin: drums, parachute play, puppets, face painting, food vendors, ballet, bubbles, yoga, arts and crafts, and a whole lot of door prizes.

Toot toot!!! Thomas the Tank Engine, his buddy Percy, and Sir Topham Hatt are pulling into Essex Station for the “Ready, Set, Go Tour!” for 3 weekends in April! Thomas & Friends will be joining us on April 16-17, 23-24, & April 30-May 1, with departure times every 45 minutes from 9AM-3:45PM.  Passengers select a departure time when purchasing a ticket (ride is approx. 25 minutes), but can enjoy fun filled family activities all day long!
 
After meeting Thomas, guests will also have the opportunity to meet Sir Topham Hatt, the Controller of the Railway on the Island of Sodor and Percy the Small Green Engine! But wait, there’s more! Included in your ticket price, you and your little ones have access to unlimited riding on 5 carnival rides, face painting featuring Day Out With Thomas characters, Isle of Sodor Storytelling, a special Thomas the Tank Engine video theater & magic show, and Thomas the Tank Engine & Megablok play areas! PLUS, Caboose the Clown will be joining us and creating colorful balloon characters while La La performs her beloved music show!

Sing and Dance with Ms. Bergin to Raise Money for DPNC Preschool;

Stonington singer/songwriter Bergin O’Malley will perform a children’s concert beginning at 2 p.m., Saturday April 30, at Coogan Farm Nature & Heritage Center.

The concert is a fundraiser for the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Preschool, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Proceeds from the concert will go toward the Preschool’s scholarship fund, as well as the Preschool Improvement Fund.

In addition to the concert, guests can enjoy cake, lemonade and meet some of the Nature Center’s resident animals. 10th anniversary t-shirts featuring the Preschool’s official Bunny Mascot HopHop will be for sale, and children can decorate the shirts themselves.

Advance tickets are available at www.dpnc.org/calendar and are $15/adults and $5/children (ages 2-13; under 2 is free). Tickets at the gate on Saturday are $20/adult and $10/child. The concert is rain or shine.
