Children in 1st to 6th grade are invited to participate in building activities every Friday at 10:30am at the Public Library of New London. On Friday, July 21 we will build a marshmallow catapult! Children will design, decorate and build a catapult out of popsicle sticks, rubber bands and plastic spoons. There will be competition to see whose catapult can launch a marshmallow the further. This program is free and no registration is required. Brick x Brick will be held weekly from June 23 to August 18.

Built over several years in upstate New York using traditional plans and means, the Onrust is a wholly unique ship that serves to educate and entertain visitors curious about the age of exploration, the fur trade, and our early colonial history.

River cruises will be offered aboard Onrust Thursdays through Mondays. When not giving cruises, Onrust will be available for exploration while docked at the Museum.

Cruise Rates:

Daytime- 1:30pm & 3:30pm (1.5 hours): $33 Adults, $25 children under 12.

Sunset- 6pm (2 hours): $40 regardless of age

The Bill Memorial Library in the City of Groton will host a presentation and demonstration by Laurel City Historical Fencing. Laurel City Historical Fencing is a school in the northwest corner of Connecticut; their focus is on the German School of Medieval Combat, with their curriculum based on the teachings of Master Johannes Liechtenauer, a 14th century fencing master. The group will give a lecture on the history of Historical European Martial Arts followed by a demonstration of some longsword, dagger, and poleaxe. This program is free and suitable for all ages.

People are encouraged to come early and enjoy a picnic on the beautiful grounds of the Park.  There will also be entertainment for a couple of hours before the performances on many nights. A schedule of pre-show entertainment will be available later as dates are filled in. Live music and more to enjoy pre-show.

The Connecticut River Museum is pleased to welcome Onrust, a replica of Adriaen Block’s 1614 vessel- one of the first sailing ships built in the New World, and the first ever to sail up the Connecticut River!

Built over several years in upstate New York using traditional plans and means, the Onrust is a wholly unique ship that serves to educate and entertain visitors curious about the age of exploration, the fur trade, and our early colonial history.

River cruises will be offered aboard Onrust Thursdays through Mondays. When not giving cruises, Onrust will be available for exploration while docked at the Museum.

Cruise Rates:

Daytime- 1:30pm & 3:30pm (1.5 hours): $33 Adults, $25 children under 12.

Sunset- 6pm (2 hours): $40 regardless of age

Please note that cruise times change through late Summer as the days get shorter. Please check to confirm you have the correct departure time before arriving.

Wheeler Library in North Stonington invites kids and their caregivers to the library for Lil’s Yogis with Miss Kim. On Fridays at 10:30 a.m. from July 21 to August 11, Miss Kim will guide little ones in creative movement and yoga. Geared toward ages 2 to 5. Siblings are welcome. No registration necessary. Free and open to the public.

Simply present your Military ID Card, DD214 or Veterans Administration card. Family members with a U.S. Military Dependent ID receive a discounted admission rate of $20.99 per adult, $15.99 per youth (13-17), and $13.99 per child (3-12) when each person shows their U.S. Military Dependent I.D. Tickets must be purchased at the gate.

Shakespeare Festival presents Twelfth Night

TWELFTH NIGHT will open on Wednesday, July 26 and run Tuesdays through Sundays at 8:00 PM,with the closing performance on Sunday, August 13.  All performances are in Wilcox Park in the heart of Westerly, with abundant free and convenient parking available.
People are encouraged to come early and enjoy a picnic on the beautiful grounds of the Park.  There will also be entertainment for a couple of hours before the performances on many nights. A schedule of pre-show entertainment will be available later as dates are filled in. Live music and more to enjoy pre-show.
TWELFTH NIGHT is a rollicking comedy suitable for the whole family. It combines some of Shakespeare's funniest scenes with some of his best known lines and beautiful language.
