Artist Academy Jr. engages children and families with the arts and their community through story-telling and creative activities led by Program Coordinator Georgia O'Neil, with help from other artists.

Each Saturday (starting in October excluding Halloween and Thanksgiving weekend), several books pertaining to creative fun and the impact of the arts will be read to the children. Following the story-time, there will be a hands-on craft for children and parents to engage in together and with their neighbors. All are welcome!

Warning: Children may come home with tendencies to paint and draw on everything!

This workshop will explain basic circuits and instructions on how to build a simple robot. You will learn programmable electronics and receive instructions for making lights blink, motors run, sounds and a lot more! Bring your broken electronics and we will take them apart with you to learn about circuits! Space is limited; please register beginning September 25. For ages 10 & up. Ocean Zones: In this workshop, participants will learn about the 5 zones of the ocean and the different sea creatures that live within each zone.

This fun drop-in program, designed for children ages 7-11, encourages participants to explore the intersections between art and science. Each month features a different gallery learning session, mini-experiment and hands-on art project. STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics)-integrated fun at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum!

Bring your creative visions to life with your very own TV show! Introducing a new program at The Barn that will teach students all about TV production as they create their very own variety show. Under the guidance of television industry veteran Jessica Spinelli, participants can either learn to write, produce, direct and/or perform in front of the camera while having hands on experiences with studio and field equipment. From start to finish, students will be involved in the creation of several episodes of a show of their very own creation that will be aired on Madison's Public Access Channel. Students from 5th through 12th grade from any town in Connecticut are welcome to sign up. The program runs every Sunday, 12:30-2:30pm, from September 24th through December 17th with additional dates and times possibly added for filming and post production. There is a $200 participation fee that students can pay or they can assist with marketing efforts to cover the fee. Financial assistance available to those in need.
