The Friends of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony are sponsoring a bus trip, July 31, to Tanglewood for an all-Brahms concert featuring Paul Lewis, noted pianist, and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra.
The cost is $120 and includes seating in the Music Shed, an informative lecture en route, and wine and cheese on the way home. The bus leaves from the East Lyme Park and Ride community parking lot at 10 a.m. and arrives at Tanglewood around 12:30 p.m. to give patrons two hours to picnic on the grounds or to purchase lunch prior to the 2:30 p.m. concert. The bus arrives back in East Lyme at approximately 8 p.m. To reserve seats, call the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Office at (860) 443-2876.

Registration is open for “Hawaii Five-O,” a 5K run or walk, taking place on the morning of the Old Lyme MidSummer Fair, July 30, through the village streets of Old Lyme. The first 150 registrants will receive commemorative T-shirt . The $25 registration fee will go directly to the Friends of Music Hawaii fund.
The race will start in front of Lyme–Old Lyme Middle School, proceed past the entrance to Lyme–Old Lyme High School, and then travel down Lyme Street and McCurdy Road and back again.

The second open format art discussion and critique will take place on Thursday, July 28th at 7pm in the Underground Gallery. Inspired by the fin de siècle salons hosted by Gertrude Stein, Hygienic Art Galleries hopes to promote challenging ideas and a forum for artistic growth.

Moderated by artists Davo and Jason Silva, we ask for participants to bring one art object that will be the springboard for the discussion.

OPEN/FORMAT is an opportunity to get artwork out of the studio, get feedback on ideas and meet other artists working in the area. Featured guests will be announced on a monthly basis.
