Pianist Taka Kigawa of New York City rehearses "Of Dust and Sand," a piece of music for a piano prepared with electromagnets, alto saxophone and electronics by Per Bloland of the Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College in Ohio, Saturday, March 3, 2012 for the multimedia concert to be held later in the day in Evans Hall of the Cummings Arts Center on the Connecticut College campus. The electromagnets on the piano make the strings vibrate and are controlled by the computer, and the pianist dampens the strings with his fingers while the saxophonist plays multiphonics. The concert is part of the Aesthetics + Creative Pathways 13th biennial Symposium on Arts and Technology that took place at Connecticut College March 1 to 3.
