Mike Evans, a UConn PhD student in wildlife biology, hikes through the woods of Sunny Brook State Park in Torrington Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012 to the hair corrals he has created to collect bear hair samples from the strands of barbed wire he has used to create the corrals in the woods in and around Torrington. The samples of hair will undergo DNA analysis giving Evans and his Professor Tracy Rittenhouse information on the state's bear population, numbers, where it's moving, etc.

About 100 employees of L+M Hospital dance on the hospital's Pequot Ave. beach with a group of breast cancer survivors Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012 to film the finale to the hospital's entry in the Pink Glove Dance competition. The staff submits a music video to the competition and the winning hospital gets to donate $10,000 to the breast cancer charity of their choosing. The dance was choreographed by L+M Director of Organizational and Leadership Development Sue Greenleaf. Voting for the competition will take place in October.
