Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, takes a look at the model of the U.S. Coast Guard barque Eagle that he received as a gift after speaking to cadets, faculty and staff at Leamy Hall on the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013. Dempsey, by law the nation's highest-ranking military officer, is the principal military advisor to the President, Secretary of Defense and the National Security Council.
