Yesterday was the opening day for Buttonwood's annual Sunflowers for Wishes fundraiser where the proceeds from the sale of sunflower bouquets and hayrides through the farm's fields of sunflowers benefit the Make a Wish Foundation. The fundraiser continues through next Sunday, July 27.

The helicopter was scheduled to visit the AIM students as a static display this morning but, at the last minute, arrangements were made for the RBM to be on scene and a set of basket lifts between the boat and helicopter as well as two deployments of the helicopter's rescue swimmer were demonstrated. After the demonstration the helicopter landed on the baseball field and the boat docked at a nearby pier where the students were able to view the craft and ask questions of the crews. AIM is a program for high school juniors interested in the academy to spend a week at the academy and get a taste of cadet life.

Finizio thought it would be a fun idea and add another touch of art to the downtown. Finizio says his new mohawk hairstyle is in support of his sister who has cancer and did not want him, since he is a mayor, to shave his head like other family members. Finizio decided on a mohawk since she did not say anything about mohawks.
