Lindsay Boyle is The Day’s breaking news reporter and editor.

Lindsay is The Day’s breaking news reporter and editor, which means at any given moment she's updating our website, tracking down a breaking news tip or rushing to the scene of a fire.

"It's a really interesting career in that you're never doing the same thing every day," she said of her work.

Drawn to writing from a young age, Lindsay never considered making it a career until she was a senior in high school. At The Day, she has covered the opioid epidemic, immigration policy and law enforcement – just to name a few.

"I've dealt with addiction in my family my entire life but I never expected to be covering it regularly," she said.

On covering tough subjects, she said the following during an interview for The Day's Storyline Podcast: "I really don't ask a lot of questions. I listen and I let people talk." (By the way, she has the most soothing radio voice.)

Lindsay grew up in Garrettsville, a one stoplight town about an hour southeast of Cleveland, Ohio. Thanks to the Cavs' NBA championship win in 2016, she's no longer a cursed Cleveland sports fan.

A graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, Lindsay got her start in journalism in Ghana, Africa, where she spent three months reporting on topics including child trafficking and energy-creating playgrounds in off-the-grid regions.

"Starting my career in Ghana gave me a better understanding of just how good we have it in the United States. We still have issues with getting information here, but it was almost impossible there, particularly when I was covering child trafficking. It gave me a new respect for freedom of information in the U.S.," she said.

When Lindsay's not working – which isn't often – she enjoys craft beer, being taken for a walk by her 12-pound dachshund, and spending time with her wife.
