A 54-year-old man accused of breaking into a room where a woman was sleeping at a Niantic boarding house and attempting to sexually assault her made his first appearance Tuesday in the New London court where major crimes are tried.
"Our position was, at the time of trial, and remains, that she didn't set the fire," attorney Norman A. Pattis said. "Nobody in their right mind uses fireworks to set fire to their home. I think in the end even the state had to come to its senses."
