The Connecticut Sun and Phoenix Mercury are holding matching food drives featuring a dunk challenge between Connecticut’s Jonquel Jones and Brittney Griner of the Mercury.

Sun trounce Dream, clinch first winning season in five years

Jonquel Jones had 20 points and a game-high 13 rebounds and three blocks as the Connecticut Sun overwhelmed the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday, 96-75, their season-high sixth straight win to clinch their first winning season in five years.

Sun begin hectic stretch at Atlanta on Tuesday; Jones honored

The Connecticut Sun begin a hectic stretch in which they'll play five games in 11 days, starting Tuesday night against the Atlanta Dream. Second-year Sun center Jonquel Jones was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday, too.

Jonquel Jones had 19 points, 16 rebounds, five blocks and four steals as the Connecticut Sun beat the Dallas Stars on Saturday night 96-88 and clinched a playoff berth to end a franchise worst four-year drought.

Ride for Rising Sun: East Lyme's Mirecki, now cancer free, giving back to camp which helped shape him

Jay Mirecki, 19, an East Lyme High graduate and rising sophomore at Tufts University, will ride 160 kilometers Sunday to give back to Camp Rising Sun in Colebrook, which he attended as a child. A cancer survivor, Mirecki built off the number 16, aiming to raise $16,000, too. As of Wednesday, Mirecki has raised $21, 584.
