This Saturday Mystic Ballet will be performing its season opener, "G.R.A.B.", at the Mashantucket Auditorium.
I have recently learned that an interview with the company's director, Goran Subotic, will be broadcast at 7:30 Saturday morning on National Public Radio.
Mystic Ballet is more than just an area dance school. It is a full-fledged professional dance company with resident dancers and choreographers from around the world. Most notably is choreographer, Sergei Vanaev of the Bremerhaven Ballet in Germany.
Area middle school and high school students who audition for and train with the company have the extraordinary opportunity to learn from and dance with these professional artists. The level of skill and dedication that they display at such a young age is truly awe inspiring.
We are so fortunate to have this artistic and culutral organization right in our backyard.
I ask that The Day and its readers attend the performance on Saturday to witness firsthand the incredible things happening in our little corner of the world.
In fact, Mystic Ballet is being honored by the state of Connecticut as well as the town of Stonington that evening for its contribution to the community.
The Day hosted a web chat with New London Mayor Daryl J. Finizio to discuss the beginning of his new administration and news out of the city's police department.
With the Valentine's Day holiday approaching, we wanted to see if any of our readers ever received a Valentine's gift that was memorably bad.
In the past two weeks our Facebook fans have won tickets to the CT Tigers, Newport Winefest and Mystic Seaport. Become a fan of The Day on Facebook for access to these contests, breaking news, TheDay.com's best features and more!
