Plainfield — A Killingly man who police say was driving too fast died Saturday night when his car crashed into a tree on Interstate 395.
John Jurgelewicz, 57, of 34 Bailey Hill Road was driving south on Interstate 395 at about 9:30 p.m. when he lost control of his car, which veered off the right shoulder of the highway and struck a tree, according to state police. The crash occurred just before exit 87 in Plainfield.
Jurgelewicz, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the car.
The crash remains under investigation and state police say witnesses with information should call (860) 779-4900.
