New London — Hannah Wagner scored twice Saturday and the Connecticut College field hockey team qualified for the New England Small College Athletic Conference tournament for the first time since 2005 with a 3-1 win over Colby.
Kelsey Nickerson also scored for Conn (4-8, 3-5). First round games in the NESCAC tournament will be played Nov. 1.
College volleyball
• Coast Guard and Connecticut College participated in a tri-meet with Endicott College.
Coast Guard defeated Conn College (25-21, 25-12, 25-21) and Endicott (25-16, 25-11, 21-25, 25-19). Conn College also defeated Endicott (20-25, 25-11, 25-15, 25-18). Coast Guard's Keriann Mason had 17 kills, 16 digs, nine blocks and nine aces in their two wins. Karen Matic had 64 combined assists for the Bears (22-3).
Rachel Schroff had 16 digs and 14 kills for Conn (18-5) in the win over Endicott while Marissa DeMais had 41 assists.
Women's cross country
• Sarah Blatt finished second overall in 19 minutes, 36 seconds and Coast Guard won the Wellesley College Invitational.
Tessa Knott finished third and Katie Schumacher finished sixth for the Bears.
Connecticut College finished third. Melanie Poole led Conn with a 14th-place finish. Clare Murphy Hagan finished 18th and Maura Hallisey finished 21st (22:19).
Men's soccer
• Oscar Brown scored for Connecticut College in a 1-0 win over Colby in a NESCAC match. Brian Morgan assisted on the goal for Conn (8-3-1, 5-3) and Alex Martland made three saves to preserve the shutout.
• Nick Devine scored with one minute and 29 seconds left in regulation to give Coast Guard a 2-1 win over Clark in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference game. Jacob Larsen also scored for Coast Guard (6-9, 2-3).
Women's soccer
• Amy Lowitt made six saves for Connecticut College in a 2-0 loss to Colby College in NESCAC play. Conn is 4-9, 0-8.
• Mary Mills made 11 saves for Coast Guard in an 8-0 loss to Babson in a NEWMAC match. Coast Guard is 2-13, 0-8.
