Westerly —Police are investigating a Saturday afternoon robbery at Shaws Supermarket at 100 Franklin St.
Police said the store clerk reported that a man passed her a note with a the word "robbery" written on it.
The man said he would shoot the clerk although no gun was shown.
The clerk turned over an undetermined amount of cash to the robber. He then fled the store.
The robbery occurred at 3 p.m.
The man is described as a white male, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, heavyset with a scruffy beard.
He was wearing black gloves, a black baseball cap and a black hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with information is asked to call Westerly police at 401-596-2022.
