East Lyme — Republicans candidates led by incumbent First Selectman Paul Formica maintained their dominance on town boards and commissions after Tuesday's municipal election.
Formica, running for his second term, did not have a Democratic opponent, but was opposed by write-in candidate Phillip Delaney, a registered Republican who was not endorsed by either party. Formica will have a majority of fellow Republicans on the Board of Selectmen, with incumbent John Hogan joined by new selectmen Mark Nickerson and John Birmingham.
"I'm honored," Formica said of his re-election. "Hopefully, we've moved the town forward and tried to create some efficiencies in government."
Democratic selectwoman Roseann Hardy easily won re-election to a 13th term, along with incumbent Democratic selectman Robert Wilson.
