Four Old Lyme Republicans won seats on the Regional District 18 Board of Education tonight, sweeping the election and knocking out incumbent Nanette Marie Salvino, who ran for the first time this year as a Democrat.
Republican incumbent Russell A. Gomes Jr. was re-elected along with Allison Gerber Hine, a Republican who was cross-endorsed by both parties. Republican newcomers Steven J. Cinami and Victoria K. Lanier also won seats.
The fifth school board member, Democrat Beth A. Jones of Lyme, was cross-endorsed by both parties and unopposed.
The focus on elections in Old Lyme this year was on the Board of Education, since the selectmen and most other candidates were running unnoposed.
