North Stonington—Republican Nicholas Mullane II was elected to a 13th term as first selectman, beating Democratic challenger Marilyn Mackay Tuesday.
Mullane garnered 943 votes, followed by Republican Shawn Murphy with 900 votes and Democrat school board member Leroy "Bill" Briscoe with 571 votes. Mackay did not win a selectman seat with 562 votes.
Voter turnout was about 41.9 percent, with 1,526 of the town's 3,646 registered voters casting ballots.
Mullane, 71, has been first selectman since 1983 with the exception of one term.
