STONINGTON, CT — November 3, 2009 — We are pleased to announce Mystic Independent Theater, which will host intriguing events, premiere emerging films, and provide a unique intimate setting for private gatherings.
Our grand opening will be Thanksgiving holiday weekend, starting with a fun-filled day for the kids on Friday November 27th, featuring “Linda Lee’s Laughs on Us.” FREE half-hour shows with the lovable clown and magician will be held at 12 noon, 1 pm, 2 pm and 3 pm.
We will premiere the independent documentary film: IN SEARCH OF MEMORY – a compelling blend of autobiography & history that recounts the life of Nobel-prize winner neuroscientist Eric Kandel. Archival footage, dramatic recreations of Kandel's childhood in Nazi-occupied Vienna, family discussions & lectures exploring his professional & personal life, especially his emotional ties to Judaism. Showing: Sat. Nov. 28th early show 4:30, second show 7pm, Sun. Nov. 29 matinee 3pm & Mon. Nov. 30th 7pm.
Mystic Independent Theater is located on the lower level at Quiambaug Cove Professional Suites, 107 Wilcox Road, one mile from downtown Mystic, Connecticut. The four-year old theater was previously JBG Theater, and was managed by the Stonington Film Society. Quiambaug Cove Professional Suites is situated on a scenic five-acre campus with beautiful water views, 144 parking spaces, and is home to thirteen businesses, including: law offices, engineering, yoga, and health & wellness.
The theater is available to rent for both private and public events, for guests or audiences of 46 or fewer. Our interior space has very comfortable tiered seats, a raised stage, superb video and sound, and attractive adjustable lighting.
We are accepting reservations for public and private events, such as: sales and educational presentations, musical & dramatic performances, literary readings, awards presentations, fund-raisers, family reunions with home movies, wedding ceremonies, birthday celebrations and memorial gatherings.
Local musical and theatrical productions are welcome to submit a proposal for public performance at the theater. Submission forms are available on our website.
Mystic Independent Theater will show films, documentaries, and host thematic film events including a 2010 Independent Film Festival. Local film-makers and film students are encouraged to apply for screening. To submit your independent film for screening, please visit our website.
