Uncharacteristic Luggage

Connecticut Defenders pitcher Mitch Lively sign autographs along the first base side of Dodd Stadium in Norwich, prior to the start of a game against New Britain Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009. Lively was transporting the team's pink backpack, filled with baseballs to the bullpen. Lively, a rookie, had the daily duty of transporting the Disney-character backpack to and from the bullpen all season.

Part of being a photojournalist is accepting the fact that all you can do is take the photograph and hope for the best. Images fall to the wayside everyday, never to be seen, due to space constraints or they just don't fill any specific need at that moment. This photograph fell into that category in August as Sports wanted game action and our front and local sections had sufficient visual content.
