In this day and age when so many people seem to want to do nothing except criticize everyone and everything, I feel it's important to not forget to acknowledge jobs well done and the people performing them.
In this vein, East Lyme and Waterford residents need to know - if they don't already - that we're very fortunate to have an excellent canine control officer, a part-time canine control officer and the pound volunteers.
Not only is our money well spent, the animals who unfortunately find themselves in the pound couldn't be getting better care. I witnessed this myself quite recently, in fact.
All of these individuals displayed a loving, kind, caring and respectful relationship with the dogs in their charge.
For the two dogs requiring special needs, there was an extra effort made on their behalf.
Although no one wants to see any animals end up in the pound, those that do have an excellent interim home.
Shouldn't we all be appreciative of that? And be supportive?
