A long walk against war

Merrick Alpert, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, is walking the length of Route 1, from Stonington to Greenwich, to publicize his opposition to the war in Afghanistan.

He began his 120-mile March to End the Afghan War on Tuesday morning, and will walk approximately 25 miles a day along Route 1, until he reaches the New York border on the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 14.

This morning he was in Old Lyme.
