It's an intriguing and decidedly blues-toned fundraiser for the William Meredith Center for the Arts Sunday. First, a screening will be held in the Mystic Arts Cinema of the documentary "Delta Rising," which stars Morgan Freeman, James Montgomery and Willie Nelson.

Afterwards, Montgomery will perform with fellow blues ace Bruce Marshall at the Steak Loft. Both venues are in Olde Mistick Village.

The Meredith Center, funded by the non-profit Meredith Foundation, hosts resident local artists and provides them with a space to work as well as exposure to cultural enrichment educational programs. Meredith, of course, was the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, much-loved Connecticut College professor and one-time Poet Laureate Consultant to the Library of Congress.

William Meredith Foundation fundraiser,
6 p.m. Sunday; screening of "Delta Rising," Olde Mistick Village Art Cinema, followed immediately James Montgomery and Bruce Marshall in concert, Steak Loft, Coogan Boulevard, Olde Mistick Village; $20 both events ($25 at the door); (860) 961-5138, williammeredithfoundation.org.
