NL police arrest 12 in prostitution sweep

New London – A dozen men were arrested for allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover officer during a police operation in the city Wednesday night.

The city’s police Vice and Intelligence Section Unit along with the Street Crimes Unit and the eastern division of the Statewide Narcotics Task Force set up the operation to "address quality of life issues in the city," said Capt. William D. Dittman, a police spokesman..

"Their main focus was on prostitution activity that has been occurring in the areas of the city," Dittman said in a news release.

The twelve men that were charged with patronizing a prostitute are:  Terry Browder, 42, of 5 Warbler Way, Gales Ferry; Little Tucker, 65, of 24 Butlertown Road, Waterford; Paul Jensen, 67, 2 Jodry St., Quaker Hill; Brion Walker, 56, of 24 Center St., Apt. 31, New London; Salvator Galotti, 26, of Baltic; John Wiley, 23, of 142 Clark Lane, Waterford; Dondi Howell, 43, of 14-16 Park St., New London; Felix Pepe, 54, of 20 Summer St., New London; Elmer Benavides, 31, of 995 Bank St., New London; Miguel Osorio, 25, 15 Williams St., New London.

Galotti was also charged with possession of marijuana. Browder was also charged with interfering with police and second-degree reckless endangerment.

All of the men were released with a court date of Nov. 25. Howell was held because he is on probation, police said.
