Stonington police are investigating an apparent suicide after a local woman reported missing early Thursday morning was found dead on the property of a Mystic business.
Capt. Jerry Desmond said this morning that an autopsy is being conducted by the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, but that the preliminary investigation shows the woman died of a self-inflicted injury.
Desmond said he would not identify the woman except to say she was 28 years old and lived in Mystic.
The woman was reported missing by a friend to police at 12:24 a.m., Thursday, Desmond said.
