Waterford - Police are investigating an apparent armed robbery that happened in the parking lot of Toys "R" Us just after 10 p.m.
Waterford Police Sgt. Ed Lougee said a man reported that he was robbed by two men at gunpoint just after he parked at the store. A loaded handgun was found at the scene.
The man suffered a laceration to his forehead and was taken by ambulance to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for treatment.
An off-duty Drug Enforcement Agency officer witnessed the incident, Lougee said, and provided Waterford police with a description of a black 1997 Nissan Maxima that was registered in Bloomfield.
Lougee said there also might have been a third person in the Nissan but it was unclear this early in the investigation whether the suspects got away with any money. He also said he could not confirm who had the weapon or how it ended up on the ground.
There were no further details made available by police late Friday night. The investigation is ongoing.
With the Valentine's Day holiday approaching, we wanted to see if any of our readers ever received a Valentine's gift that was memorably bad.
