Tim Ford, chairman of the board of the Eastern Regional Tourism District, and Donna Simpson, executive director of the organization, took questions in a live chat on Tuesday.

Donna Simpson is the Executive Director for Connecticut East, the publicly funded marketing organization dedicated to the sustained growth of tourism in eastern Connecticut, representing 42 towns.
Simpson has an extensive background in the tourism industry in Connecticut. The four years before returning to the area she served as Vice President, Director of Client Services, at McLaughlin, DelVecchio & Casey Advertising in New Haven, providing advertising and public relations oversight for the state of Connecticut Office of Tourism. Prior to joining the agency she served as Executive Director of Mystic Coast & Country Travel & Leisure Council Inc., the privately funded tourism association in southeastern Connecticut and southern Rhode Island for seven years.
Donna worked for General Dynamics, Electric Boat the submarine Division in Groton, for fifteen years in Management Training, as the Ombudsman and in Public Affairs.
She co-chaired the Tourism Committee for OPSAIL 2000 Connecticut and was appointed a Connecticut delegate for the White House Conference on Travel & Tourism. Donna currently serves on various boards and committees including Last Green Valley's Tourism and Community committee, South Eastern CT Enterprise Region's board and Committee for Business Development.
Donna received her B.S. in Management from Husson College in Bangor, Maine and an M.A. in Organizational Industrial Psychology from the University of New Haven. She lives with her husband and Labrador retriever in New London.
