Historical society halts progress in Mystic

In response to Carol Kimball's excellent column titled "Requiem for a house in Mystic," published Nov. 9, concerning the once-beautiful house at 23 Library St., one questions why a restoration takes so long in Mystic (on the Groton side).
Could it be delays are because of the over-zealousness and nit-picking of the historical society that halts rather than promotes progress in our town?
The infamous green wall in downtown Mystic would be replaced by now with stores and attractive residences if the historical society kept within the perameters of its mission.
Now, because of so many delays and the economic downturn, will we ever see improvements where the green wall stands?
