In the letter titled "Leave the abortion decision to women," published Nov. 20, the author makes it painfully obvious that he does not know what the Stupak amendment is, while nevertheless criticizing it.
He claims that "If a woman is paying for the health insurance, then the choice (to abort a baby) should be hers."
The Stupak amendment does not prevent a woman from aborting her baby, it simply prevents taxpayers from paying for abortions either through direct payment or through the "public option" backed by taxpayers dollars.
Taxpayer-funded abortions is the biggest contention holding back health care reform, but the pro-abortion politicians refuse to give up this golden calf. Not only do we have to accept abortion, but they insist we pay for it no matter how offensive that is.
