Southington - Michael Jensen scored 33 points for UConn-Avery Point in a 115-57 win over Briarwood Community College in men's college basketball Tuesday.
Stonington's Tim Sartor added 29 points, including five 3-pointers. New London's Teaurean Nolan added 15 points and St. Bernard's Joey Cyr scored 12 on four 3-pointers. Avery Point is 1-6.
In other games:
• Shavar Bernier had 18 points and six assists for Connecticut College in a 76-59 loss to Roger Williams. Demetrius Porter added 14 points and five rebounds for Conn (1-2) and Dean Lampe had seven points.
Women's basketball
• Jennifer Shinall had 21 points for Connecticut College in an 80-73 loss to Nichols College. Rita Holak added 18 points and 13 rebounds for Conn (1-2). Jacqueline Shinall added 12 points and Kacie Quick scored 10.
• Jennifer Iglesias had 15 points, three rebounds and three assists for Mitchell College in an 82-52 loss to Eastern Nazarene College. Destiney Harris had 10 points and five rebounds for the Mariners (0-2) and Jordan Ringwood had eight points and three rebounds.
Branchini honored again
• Old Lyme's Ariana Branchini, a junior midfielder on the Johns Hopkins field hockey team, was named a third-team selection on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America team.
Previously, Branchini was honored by the NFHCA as a All-South team selection. Branchini, who attended Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, will enter her senior season with 12 goals and 11 assists for 35 points.
Thanksgiving football
• Tickets for the Fitch at Ledyard football game on Thanksgiving Day will be on sale at Fitch High School in the auditorium ticket booth today from 10 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for students, but all tickets will be $5 at the gate on Thanksgiving Day.
