Griswold runs past Plainfield

Griswold - Tony Velasquez ran for 177 yards and four touchdowns as Griswold High School finished its season with a 34-32 victory over rival Plainfield Thursday morning.

Rob Foisey added 138 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries for theWolverines, who finish 6-4, while Ken Slonski added 95 yards.

Griswold finished with 444 total yards, including 416 on the ground.

Plainfield (2-8) cut the lead to two points with just under six minutes left, but turned the ball over on downs on its final two possessions.

The Panthers' Jeff Buchert completed 12 of 27 passes for 327 yards and five touchdowns, including three to Nick Ververis.

In another game:

• Bacon Academy quarterback Brennden Cullen ran threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as the Bobcats' routed RHAM of Hebron to finish 6-4.

Cullen completed 14 of 25 passes for 204 yards and had nine carries for 123 yards. He gave Bacon a quick 7-0 lead on a 38-yard touchdown run and capped the scoring in the third quarter with a 22-yard TD run.

Wide receiver Brian Hogan caught seven passes for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns, a 27-yard TD reception in the first quarter and a 19-yard TD in the second quarter that helped the Bobcats build a 35-3 halftime lead.

Elijah McCall also caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Cullen while Matt Brown had recovered a fumble and returned it 2 yards for a score late in the first half.

Joey Colletti kicked a 22-yard field goal for RHAM, which finishes 4-6.
