Shawn Coyne of Groton has been reappointed by Gov. M. Jodi Rell as a member of the state's Advisory Board for the Employment Security Division.

The board was created to advise the state on employment security policy.

Coyne is assistant general counsel for Electric Boat Corp., where he provides advice and guidance to the company in the areas of state and federal labor laws, workplace safety, workers' compensation and alternative dispute resolution. He earned his law degree from the Western New England College School of Law in Springfield, Mass.

Coyne will serve a term ending Nov. 9, 2013, or until a successor has been appointed and has qualified, whichever is longer. Those interested in serving on a state board or commission can visit www.ct.gov/governorrell and click on "Forms."

A Business After Hours hosted by the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce will be held at East Coast Catering at 165 State St., New London, on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Business After Hours are a low-key monthly networking event held monthly at member businesses. The cost to attend is $10 for members and $20 for non-members. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center. Prior to the Business After Hours at 5 p.m., there will be a free Mastering Networking mini-workshop held until 5:20 p.m., which will give members attending the Business After Hours a crash course on networking.

The Lyme-Old Lyme Council presents its 11th annual Community Carol Sing and Tree Lighting from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday.

The event will take place at the Old Lyme Marketplace and will feature the Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School Band. Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided, and Santa Claus will make a special appearance.

Pete Roberts of Town Hill Auto in New London will discuss how to maintain a car at the weekly meeting of the New London Nautilus chapter of BNI on Tuesday.

The chapter meets at 7 a.m. each Tuesday in the Harris Building on the campus of Connecticut College.

The East Lyme Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut will hold a meet-and-greet luncheon with Dr. James Lombardo, the newly appointed superintendent of East Lyme public schools.

The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Frank's Gourmet Grille, 135 Boston Post Road, East Lyme.

Pronto! will celebrate its new location at 27 Broadway Ave. (Route 1) in Mystic on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. with an official ribbon-cutting at 4:30 p.m, hosted by the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce.

Pronto specializes in gourmet Italian meals to go. All of Pronto's food in stock is fully cooked and ready to be reheated in a microwave or conventional oven. The store carries a wide variety of foods, including New Haven style pizzas, imported pastas, gelatos and sorbettos from Italy, Italian bread from the Bronx daily, Italian cheeses, meats, and sauces.

The Community Outreach Program, an employee-funded program at Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, is seeking names and addresses of soldiers stationed oversees for the Support Our Troops Project.

The group will send care packages filled with snacks, toiletries, books, games and more to a list of names submitted by employees and credit union members. Volunteers for the project handle purchasing, assembling and mailing the care packages to soldiers currently deployed.

The Mystic BNI chapter will meet on Thursday to hear a presentation from David Messier of CertaPro Painters.

Messier will discuss the new environmental standards for painting, winter discounts and flexible payment options. Visitors are welcome.
