Plainfield — Two men in their 20s were killed in a car crash on Interstate 395 early Saturday morning, according to state police.
Jeremy Dubois, 25, of Jewett City was driving his 2002 Ford Mustang south on Interstate 395 at about 3:15 a.m. when the car veered onto the right shoulder then off the road, police said. The car struck a tree between exits 88 and 87 on I-395.
Dubois was pronounced dead at The William W. Backus Hospital and his passenger, 26-year-old Michael Batchek of Voluntown, died at the scene, police said. Dubois was wearing his seat belt, but Batchek was not, according to police.
The crash remains under investigation. No further information was available late Saturday night.
The Day hosted a web chat with New London Mayor Daryl J. Finizio to discuss the beginning of his new administration and news out of the city's police department.
