Groton – A Groton business man was arrested Monday by state Department of Revenue Services agents for allegedly failing to pay more than $41,000 to the state.

Michael W. Hopkins, 55, of Groton, was charged with 25 counts of sales tax violations, according to a news release form the DRS.

Hopkins owns three computer businesses – PC Cleaning and Recovery and Computer Gaming Arena, both in Groton and BOA Systems in Branford, according to the DRS.

Hopkins allegedly collected sales tax from customers and used the funds for other purposes in violation of the state’s trust tax.
