More commuter trains good news

For all who suffer the unbearable congestion on our most critical traffic artery, Interstate 95, the negotiations to add 10 extra trains to New London each day, for a total of 12, is great news ("DOT 'committed' to boost in Shore Line East service," Nov. 17). Each eight-car train can carry 832 passengers. Six full trains per day in each direction have the potential to take 4,992 round-trip passengers per day off I-95.
I call on the Department of Transportation to schedule six full, nonstop trains in each direction between Grand Central Terminal and waiting casino buses at Union Station relieving that congestion; providing metropolitan New York City casino patrons with fast, safe, convenient, reliable, economical access to their gaming tables; and bringing cruise ship customers through New London every day.
Is the DOT listening? The New London City Council?
