Montville – A Montville man who has been charged with driving under the influence and hitting and killing a man in 2008, was arrested again Monday when he arrived at a local state police barracks to bond out his father.
Jeffrey M. Socha, 23, of 3 Ventura Drive, was charged with driving with a suspended license.
Socha’s father, Joseph J. Socha, 55, of the same address, was arrested earlier Monday morning on a warrant that charged him with issuing a bad check, according to state police. The older Socha apparently wrote the check to cover the court fines and fees for his son.
Socha called his son to come bond him out at the Troop E barracks in Montville.
When his son arrived, he was recognized by police and arrested.
Jeffrey Socha is due in Norwich Superior Court Friday for a pretrial hearing for one of his other driving arrests.
He was charged in October 2008 with misconduct with a motor vehicle, evading responsibility and failure to obey a traffic signal after a six-month investigation into a hit-and-run accident on Route 32 near Sandy Desert Road that resulted in the death of Fu Quan Liu. Liu was a Mohegan Sun worker walking in a crosswalk when he was allegedly struck by Socha.
On Jan. 15, the court issued a re-arrest order for Socha in connection with a pending violation of probation case.
In January, Montville police responded to a one-car accident at 77 Noble Hill Road. Socha’s 2000 Jeep Cherokee sustained front-end damage. In that incident, he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, evading responsibility, traveling too fast for conditions and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Socha was also charged in Montville last December with violation of probation.
Jeffrey Socha was released on $2,500 bond and is due in court for the suspended license charge on Dec. 15.
His father was also released and is due in court Dec. 10.
