Ledyard — Four people were taken to the hospital Monday evening when a sport utility vehicle crossed into the path of a Peter Pan passenger bus on Foxwoods Boulevard.
State police in Montville said a Ford Explorer was traveling west in the right lane. The passenger bus was traveling west in the left lane.
Police said the Ford Explorer, driven by Nikita Douglas, 23, of New Haven, passed the bus on the right and then attempted an abrupt left turn from the right lane into the Rainmaker garage entrance.
The SUV crossed directly into the path of the bus, police said. The bus was unable to stop and struck the car.
The driver of the bus, Edilberto Albus, 53, of 57 Canterbury Road, Mystic, two bus passengers and Douglas were taken to the William W. Backus Hospital for minor injuries, police said.
The passenger bus was driven from the scene while the SUV had to be towed.
The accident is under investigation.
