Rep. Joe Courtney and the word "courageous" in the same sentence are laughable. One look at his record shows that he voted against the Bush stimulus package, but voted for the Obama version that is three times to four times larger and far more devastating. Courageous? Hardly.

His vote on health care? If he were so concerned about the millions who supposedly die for lack of insurance, then why does the bill not take effect until four years later? Put off mammograms for 10 more years. Pap tests? Mr. Courtney should read HR3962, which states, "The task force will then determine whether subsidies and rewards meet The Task Force's standards for a grade of A or B." (Page 1,302; lines 14-16) That's called government rationed health care.

Sarah Palin called it rightly by calling them "death panels." Could Mr. Courtney explain why he voted for a bill that supporters say will pay for itself by trimming Medicare by $500 billion and save $600 billion in waste and fraud? Why must we wait through four more years of fraud?

It's election cycle over life. Words like courage aren't even in his lexicon, but the word lemming surely is.
