Plainfield — A Danielson man is in good condition today at Rhode Island Hospital after he sustained serious injuries when his motorcycle collided Thursday with a backhoe.
Plainfield police said around 2 p.m., they responded with the Plainfield Fire Department to an accident involving a motorcycle and a backhoe at the intersection of Route 14A and Spaulding Road in Plainfield.
Police said Michael Fournier, 49, of Franklin Street in Danielson, was driving his 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Route 14A when a backhoe, driven by Timothy Mellon, 67, of Saratoga, Wyo., was making a left turn from Route 14A onto Spaulding Road. Police said the motorcycle collided with the backhoe.
Fournier was transported from the scene by Life Star helicopter to the hospital.
Plainfield police said the accident is under investigation.
