Mystic -- A 15-week-old cat was reunited safe and sound today with his owner after the two got separated in a car crash Tuesday night and the cat rode eight miles under a fire engine.

Neither the cat, Harabe, nor his owner, Christopher Dacunto, was injured in the rollover but the cat was nowhere to be found when emergency crews arrived at the scene.

On Wednesday, the office manager and firefighters at the Old Mystic Fire Department heard mewing in the firehouse and found the cat hiding in the undercarriage of the truck. The truck had traveled eight miles from the crash scene back to the station.

Fire Chief Ken Richards and his crew reached Ducanto, who had been searching for Harabe, a Savannah cat -- a mix of the Serval and Bengal breeds.  Cat and owner were reunited at the firehouse.
