Waterford - Holiday travelers were stuck in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 for nearly two hours Thursday evening after a pickup truck rolled over near the weigh station.
The driver, a man whose name was not released, was thrown from the truck and transported by ambulance to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. His name and condition were not released Thursday night, but police confirmed he was the vehicle's only occupant.
Emergency responders said the truck rolled over on the highway several times before coming to rest on its side, sprawled across both travel lanes.
The southbound lanes of the highway were shut down until about 8 p.m., when one lane reopened. By 9:10 p.m., the accident was cleared and the highway fully reopened.
The accident left a pile of snow across the roadway, which the state Department of Transportation was called in to remove.
The accident occurred about halfway between the Exit 82 on-ramp to the highway and the weigh station and caused traffic to back up to Vauxhall Street in New London.
