As the article titled "Senate OKs health care measure, reaching milestone," published Dec. 24, notes, on the eve of this Christmas Sen. Chris Dodd helped pass comprehensive health care reform. Connecticut residents could not have received a better holiday gift.
When the final bill is signed, no Connecticut family will have to worry about seeing a child's care denied because of a pre-existing condition or loved ones' coverage dropped because they got sick.
Starting next year, local small businesses will get tax credits that help them afford good coverage. After years of paying for bloated insurance-company bureaucracy and profits, insured Americans will be guaranteed that 80 percent to 85 percent of their premiums go to medical care.
Kudos to Sen. Dodd. And happy holidays to all and to all ... good health.
