Charley's restaurant at Crystal Mall closes

Waterford - Charley's Eating and Drinking Saloon at the Crystal Mall has closed. The restaurant closed when it's lease expired, said Karen Tarentino, the mall manager. The mall is working to fill the vacancy, she said.

"Store closings and openings are simply a component of our business cycle," Tarentino said. "We, like everyone else, are coping with the effects and impact of a very challenging economy and from our perspective, are successfully navigating an extremely dynamic business environment."

The Back Bay Restaurant Group Inc. of Boston, which owns the restaurant, did not return calls seeking comment.
