Scott Lakatos, defensive backs coach at UConn for the past six seasons, left the program Monday to take a similar position at the University of Georgia of the Southeastern Conference.
"We're very pleased that Scott has accepted the offer to join our defensive staff," Georgia coach Mark Richt said in a statement released by the school. "He has an outstanding resume of success over the course of his career and will bring a great deal of experience and expertise to our coaching staff."
Lakatos is the second UConn assistant to leave head coach Randy Edsall's staff. Tight ends coach Dave McMichael accepted an assistant's job at West Virginia last week.
"I would like to thank the University of Connecticut for giving me the opportunity to work with a great group of coaches and players in our football program," Lakatos said. "My family and I will be forever grateful for the great memories and wonderful friendships we now have.
"I am now very excited to begin our next journey with the University of Georgia. We are excited to become a part of a great university community as well as a nationally respected program and an SEC power."
Lakatos coached two cornerbacks at UConn that are currently playing in the NFL: Tyvon Branch (Oakland Raiders) and Darius Butler (New England Patriots).
With the Valentine's Day holiday approaching, we wanted to see if any of our readers ever received a Valentine's gift that was memorably bad.
