Old Saybrook - Town police are reporting that a local man who took his four dogs for a walk Tuesday night in the woods at Clark Community Park on Schoolhouse Road became disoriented and could not find his way out.
Sgt Kevin Roche said the park has many trails that fork in different directions and it is easy to become disoriented at night. The unidentified man called 911 on his cell phone at 9:41 p.m., police said. Patrolman Brian Ziolkovski and his K-9 partner Zeus, along with other officers, responded.
"Patrolman Ziolkovski said Zeus had a good scent and was pulling hard," Roche reported. After about six minutes Zeus and Ziolkovski located the lost man and his dogs, about a half-mile into the woods.
Old Saybrook police ATVs arrived on the scene in time to help the group exit out of the woods safely, Roche said.
