Boston — Mike DePaolo's 3-pointer with 56 seconds left gave Mitchell College the lead for good as it beat Newbury College on Saturday, 63-62, in a New England Collegiate Conference men's basketball game.
Mitchell (3-15, 2-7) trailed 60-58 when DePaolo made his 3-pointer. Julio Contreras (15 points, seven assists) assisted on the play and made three of his four free throws in the final 29 seconds. Drew Norris added 13 points and five rebounds.
In other games:
• Brian Vayda had 22 points for Clark as it beat Coast Guard, 67-50, in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference.
Clark is 12-9, 3-5. Greg Marshall had 13 points for the Bears (7-12, 4-5) while Eric Hudson added 11 points and six rebounds.
• Demetrius Porter had 31 points and 11 rebounds for Connecticut College in its 79-70 loss to Wesleyan in New England Small College Athletic Conference play.
Shavar Bernier had 21 points and six rebounds for Conn (9-13, 1-6) and Rob Harrigan had 12 points.
Women's basketball
• Berit Schelde had 14 points for Smith in its 57-48 win over Coast Guard in the NEWMAC.
Daron Dean had 10 points and six rebounds for Smith (11-8, 8-6). Melissa Martinelli had 20 points for the Bears (5-14, 3-11).
• Jennifer Shinall had 22 points and eight rebounds for Conn College in its 79-71 double overtime loss to Wesleyan in the NESCAC.
Jeanna Dunleavy had 20 points for Conn (8-14, 0-7).
• Destiney Harris had 24 points and 18 rebounds for Mitchell as it lost to Newbury, 65-54, in the NECC.
Jennifer Iglesias had 10 points and five assists for Mitchell (7-10, 7-4).
• Karen Manning had 21 points for UConn-Avery Point in its 80-44 win over Dean College.
Marybeth Willis had 18 points and Brianna Reilly had 17 points for Avery (19-3), which has won nine straight.
Men's hockey
• Ryan Joyce, Sean Driscoll and Michael O'Donnell scored for Conn College in its 3-2 win over Wesleyan. Greg Parker made 26 saves for Conn (5-14-1).
Women's hockey
• Ariel DiPasquale had two goals and an assist for Conn College in its 5-2 win over Williams, Rachel Lindmark, Erin Davey and Celia Medeiros scored for Conn (6-12-2) and Sara Christopher made 25 saves.
Wrestling
• Coast Guard's Andrew Armstrong placed fourth at 133 pounds at the All-Academy Championships at Navy. Navy won the seven team meet with 123.5 points and Coast Guard was sixth (10 points).
