Montville — The contract for the human resources position continues to be in limbo.
During its meeting Monday night the Town Council voted to remove an item from the agenda that would have led to a vote on the two-year contract for Katherine Christopher, who began working for the town in November.
Neither Council Chairwoman Donna Jacobson nor Mayor Joseph Jaskiewicz would comment on the decision after the meeting.
Previously, a council subcommittee that focuses on administrative issues had sent Christopher's contract back to the mayor for revisions. Councilor Ellen Hillman said during Monday's meeting that there were too many discrepancies between the contract and the position's job description.
Separate from the contract issues, Councilor Howard "Russ" Beetham asked why the position was created in the first place. He referenced the defeated charter revision proposal, in which the establishment of a human resources position was one of many items included. The town attorney answered that the council can create new positions within the town's budget at it sees fit.
