Montville - Trevor Murallo scored 11 of his 23 points during a third-quarter surge that lifted the Waterford High School boys' basketball team to a 63-52 win over St. Bernard Monday night.
Waterford (9-7) led 25-22 at halftime then outscored the Saints 24-13 in the third for take a 49-35 lead. Nolan Long scored 16 points and had 11 rebounds and Davonta Valentine had 10 rebounds and six steals for the Lancers.
Josh Bowyer scored 18 points and Dylan Delacruz had 14 points and 11 rebounds for St. Bernard (7-8).
In other games:
• Westbrook outscored Old Lyme 15-9 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 45-44 win in a Shoreline Conference game. Pat Shaw scored 13 points and Seamus Douglas had 10 for Old Lyme (8-7, 6-7). Jordan Bean had 15 points to lead Westbrook (8-7, 8-7).
H.S. girls' basketball
• Camilla Lidonde scored 12 points and had 21 rebounds as Holy Family avenged an earlier loss by beating Norwich Tech 30-27 in a Constitution State Conference East Division game. Bethany Meunier scored 12 points for Holy Family (3-14, 1-8). Bailey Spellman and Jessica Deschamps each scored seven points for Norwich Tech (2-15, 1-9).
• Ali Wilkman scored 23 points and Old Lyme built a 41-20 halftime lead on the way to a 67-43 victory over Old Saybrook in the Shoreline Conference. The Wildcats are 14-3, 12-3. Kayla McAvoy had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Rams (6-10, 5-10).
H.S. gymnastics
• Freshman Megan McNeil won all four events as Stonington beat Waterford 125-93.9. McNeil, who's all-around score was 36.02, had a 9.1 in vault, 8.8 on the bars, 9.0 on the beam and 9.1 on the floor.
Stonington is 5-3. Montara Tomasetti of Waterford was second in all four events.
Men's basketball
• Former Stonington standout Tim Sartor scored 24 points, but UConn-Avery Point lost to Bunker Hill Community College 86-56. Mike Jensen, the former Ledyard standout, scored 17 for the Pointers (2-22).
College honors
• Connecticut College sophomore Demetrius Porter was named New England Small College Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week in men's basketball. Porter scored a career high 33 points and added 11 rebounds against Hunter on Feb. 1, then came back with 31 points and 11 rebounds against Wesleyan on Saturday. The 6-foot-6 Porter has seven double-doubles this season.
• Coast Guard Academy senior Melissa Martinelli was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Player of the Week in women's basketball for the third time this season. Martinelli averaged 27.7 points and 8.7 rebounds in a 1-2 week, including a season-high 32 points (with 13 rebounds) in a win over Conn College. She leads the NEWMAC in scoring (19.7 ppg.) and also leads the Bears in rebounds (8.5), assists (34) and field goal percentage (47.2).
