The City of Groton Beach and Parks Committee meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. has been postponed to Wednesday because of inclement weather.

The Salem town office building and transfer station are closed. No municipal meetings are scheduled for tonight.

Tonight's onStage at Connecticut College performance of "Romeo and Juliet" (originally scheduled for 8 p.m. in Palmer Auditorium) has been canceled. All ticket holders will be refunded. Please contact the box office for refunds or for further information, 860-439-2787 or onstage@conncoll.edu.

Second and third shift for Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Electric Boat Groton, are canceled for all non-essential personnel. First shift Thursday, Feb. 11, will report as usual.

The town halls at Griswold and Montville are now closed.

All branches of the Ocean Community YMCA (Westerly, Mystic and Arcadia) are closing at 3 p.m. All programs and classes have been canceled as well.

The town halls at Lyme and Old Lyme will close at 1 p.m. today.

Several downtown New London businesses are closed today due to the snowstorm.

"Sorry, we are close because of big snow," reads a handwritten sign at Northern Indian Restaurant on State Street.

2 Wives, a popular pizza shop on Huntington Street, was also closed at lunchtime.

Those looking to cozy up with a library book during the snowstorm are also out of luck: the New London public library is closed due to inclement weather, a sign at the entrance reads.

The New London Judicial District, which includes the courthouses in New London, Norwich and Waterford, closed at noon.

All of the criminal cases in the New London courthouses were called by 11:30 a.m. Judge Susan B. Handy was on the bench for about an hour in the Huntington Street courthouse, where major crimes are heard. Judge Matthew E. Frechette opened the Broad Street court early and the docket was finished by 11:30 a.m. In Norwich, Judge Robert Young was wrapping up business at noon-time.

Both UConn basketball teams games will be played tonight as scheduled. The UConn men play No. 2 Syracuse in Carrier Dome at 7 p.m., and the top-ranked UConn women will try to extend their winning streak to 63 games at DePaul in Chicago at 8 p.m.

The rest of today's local college and high sports schedule was postponed, however. Following is a list:

College men's basketball — St. Thomas More at Northfield-Mt. Hermon (TBA); WPI at Coast Guard (Thursday, 7 p.m.)

College women's basketball — Coast Guard at Springfield (Thursday, 5:30 p.m.); Manchester Community College at UConn-Avery Point (Feb. 19, 7 p.m.)

H.S. boys' basketball — Providence Country Day at St. Thomas More (TBA); St. Andrew's at Williams, (TBA); Ledyard at Griswold (Feb. 17, 7 p.m.); Old Saybrook at Old Lyme (Thursday, 7 p.m.); Stonington at Plainfield (Feb. 17, 7 p.m.)

H.S. girls' basketball — Marianapolis at Williams (TBA); Plainfield at Stonington (Saturday, 12:30 p.m.); Griswold at Ledyard (Feb. 15, 5:30 p.m.)

H.S. hockey — Newtown at Norwich Free Academy (Saturday, 8 p.m.); Bolton-Coventry-Lyman Memorial at Fitch-East Lyme-Ledyard (TBA)

Preston Town Hall is closing at 12:30 p.m.

Montville Town Hall closed at 11 a.m.

Connecticut College is closed. Students are asked to check with their professors as some classes may be held today.

Waterford Board of Finance meeting scheduled for tonight is canceled

Gales Ferry Pediatrics closed.

Stonington Community Center and Thrift Shop closed.

Chelsea Groton Bank will be closing all branches and offices at 11a.m.

Ledyard Lions Bingo at 7 p.m. cancelled.

Plainfield is enforcing an immediate parking ban which will continue until the snow ends and the town highway department as cleared the roads. All residents are urged to keep vehicle off the streets. Any motor vehicle found to be violating the ordinance is subject to towing at the owner's expense. The owner could also be fined $15.

The Montville Town Council and Public Safety Building Committee joint meeting scheduled for Wednesday night has been canceled. A new meeting date has not been scheduled

The Town of Montville has declared a ban on all on-street parking beginning at 6 a.m. Wednesday that will last the duration of the storm.

The Town of Ledyard has declared a parking ban on all streets for the duration of plowing operations

The Ledyard Town Council meeting scheduled for Wednesday night has been canceled.

A webinar at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the SeCTer offices in New London on how to use SiteFinder, the Connecticut Economic Resource Center's database of available commercial properties, has been postponed. The new time is 3 p.m. Feb. 17.

The Old Saybrook Zoning Board of Appeals meeting on Feb. 10 has been rescheduled to Feb. 11, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

The Stonington Historical Society has postponed a Wednesday presentation by Norman Boas about his new book "Abraham Lincoln: Illustrated Biographical Dictionary: Family and Associates, 1809-1861" until Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Society's Richard W. Woolworth Library, 40 Palmer Street.

Stonington Town Hall will be closed on Wednesday. The Board of Finance and the Board of Selectmen have canceled their meetings slated for Wednesday night.

Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration will be closed on Wednesday.

New London police warned that a parking ban will likely take effect Wednesday. Once declared, the ban will be in effect until the completion of plowing operations.
The ban forbids parking on any streets in the downtown area and on any narrow streets. Where parking is permitted on only one side of the street, drivers should follow posted regulations. Where parking is permitted on both sides of the street, drivers should park on the odd side.
Police said free parking will be available for city residents during the parking ban at the Water Street garage and in the downtown municipal lots.

New London Little League has postponed the registration session scheduled for Wednesday. The new date is Wednesday, Feb. 24, 6:30 pm - 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph School, 25 Squire St., New London.

The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut has postponed its annual meeting scheduled for Wednesday at The Spa at Norwich Inn.

Three Wednesday high school events have been postponed:
Ledyard at Griswold boys basketball (to Feb. 17);Old Saybrook at Old Lyme boys basketball (to Thursday); and Newtown at Norwich Free Academy hockey (to Saturday at 8 p.m. instead of 5 p.m.).

Four Norwich meetings scheduled for Wednesday have been postponed: the meeting of the local Haitian relief committee scheduled for 4 p.m. at Norwich Free Academy, and the Norwich Public Safety Committee. Public safety has rescheduled its meeting for 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 18 at the Marina at American Wharf. The Norwich Rehabilitation Review Committee has rescheduled its meeting scheduled for Wednesday morning to next Wednesday at 8:45 in the community development office at 23 Union St. The Norwich Baseball Stadium Authority has canceled its meeting scheduled for Wednesday night.
