Tax policies will hurt seniors, middle class

It seems as though the media don't think it's newsworthy that there is discrimination against senior citizens who are on fixed incomes.

New this year is that taxpayers using standard deductions can also deduct part of the real estate taxes they paid and the sales tax on a new car. However, taxpayers with income from just Social Security, pensions and interest cannot take those deductions. Why?

Also worth noting is that taxpayers earning more than $250,000 pay much less this year than last year. They pay more than $5,000 less.

Compare this to a family of three earning $120,000, which pays about $500 less than it paid last year. And, a single woman earning $17,400 will pay just about $37 less than she paid last year.
