Peter Schiff, a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, took questions from readers on Feb. 16 in a live online chat. Read the transcript here.
Peter Schiff is seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.
Schiff is a businessman, author, and economic expert. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, he studied finance and accounting. In 1996 he acquired Euro Pacific Capital, a small brokerage with no clients or revenues, building it into an industry leader in international investment strategies with thousands of clients and six offices nationwide.
In 2007, Schiff authored “Crash Proof,” in which he warned that upon the economic downturn, the federal government would misread the situation, overreact and propose solutions that would actually undermine any possible recovery. As Peter predicted, the government has grown at an exponential rate and has choked off the free market system from bringing economic renewal.
Schiff has been a vocal critic of the economic stimulus packages proposed by both President Obama and President George W. Bush.
Schiff is a Connecticut native. He lives in Weston, where he is raising his 7-year-old son.
